It’s The Same Old Song. Just Not Yours

There’s a moment when the soul whispers:
“This isn’t my path!”

Most leaders ignore it.

You see…
I’d expected light nostalgia.
I left the theatre… shaken.

A room of Baby Boomers…
even a few youngsters…
dancing without care.
As if we’d forgotten our duty to be steady… wise… quietly fading elders.

We’d come for a Four Tops tribute.
They were superb.

But it was the quiet singer on the edge who unsettled me.
Young face.
Old eyes.
A presence that didn’t match the surface.

I caught myself thinking:
“Why is this old fellah still up there?”

Then, in part two, he stepped forward.
His voice…
Clear as brass.
Warm as honey.
A lifetime poured through a single breath.

And I knew I’d misjudged him.

We do that.
We assume.
We meet the surface… and forget to listen deeper.

For years I thought burnout came from brutal calendars.
It doesn’t.
It begins in the quiet beliefs we never question.

Most financial planning leaders aren’t tired from effort.
They’re tired from misalignment.
From walking roads that were never theirs.

Borrowed goals.
Inherited expectations.
Old guru voices still echoing in their mind.

The fatigue creeps in…
not from too much work…
but from a life that doesn’t fit.

You feel it in the tired pause between meetings.
That small inner flinch.
That unspoken question:

“Is this really my path, my life… or someone else’s script?”

Misalignment drains.
Alignment restores.

So, ask yourself…

“Which milestones did I accept without discernment?”
“Which visions never belonged to me?”
“Which inner voice have I quietened… even as it keeps trying to rise?”

I’ve met leaders recently who’ve begun changing direction.
They said it feels frightening to move away from revenue behaviours that ‘work’.

But they see it now:
The discomfort of change is temporary.
The discomfort of staying misaligned is permanent.

Every ache has meaning.
Every heaviness is a message.
Every misalignment is an invitation to reclaim the song that is still yours.

Step back.
Find silence.
Listen to your heart again.

That’s the Soul Millionaire way.
